Oil on 7x5 hardboard.
This is my contribution to this week's WDE at Wet Canvas. The host, EP, provided the photos.
As host this week, EP issued a challenge to paint using a palette knife.
I had been contemplating making a palette knife painting for YEARS. I would often apply paint with a knife to portions of my work.
But this is my first ever 100% knife painting, Thanks to you, EP!
I don't know how successful it is, but the point is, I finally did it!
Thanks for looking!

I would very much like to add that Don Micheal, Jr. has been my inspiration in the unique world of palette knife painting. I have followed his wonderful work for several years. Please do yourself a favor and check him our HERE.

Romans 14:11 It is written: “‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord, ‘every knee will bow before me; every tongue will acknowledge God.’”
Yes! You did it. Looks very believable, if you know what I mean.
ReplyDeleteAnother gorgeous painting, Dean. That sunrise/sunset (depending on which direction you are looking, I guess!) is amazing and the heron is a stunner too. Love the trees as well...

Now, that's what I'm talking about!!! Kudos for taking the plunge, my friend. I'd call it a resounding success.

Very deft application of paint, and perfection in color, texture and composition all put together here!
ReplyDeleteWell done, my friend!
ReplyDeleteYou did a wonderful job with the palette knife. I'm addicted to the knife. It's hard for me to go back to brushes when I work in oils now. You should do more of these. You're a natural.
