Peaceful Gaze
Oil on 7x5 hardboard.
This is for the weekly WDE at Wet Canvas. Dewi was the host and this portrait is from a photo of her beautiful friend, Ella.
I had to really fight my natural inclination to paint one of the animals this week.
I elected to go for what is for me a difficult subject...the human animal. In this case, the lovely Ella.
I tried to stay relatively loose and push the color. Maybe I wasn't entirely successful in that goal.
Thanks for looking. And your comments are always welcome!

The work is as lovely as the model herself.. the gaze has a certain kind of detachment from the surroundings..she reminded me of my long last friend Sabina.

ReplyDeleteDean, I saw this image on WC and thought whoa...what a pretty girl--you did her justice. This looks exactly like her and you caught her "poise" and grace.
