Sitting Pretty-Flamingo
Oil on 7x5 hardboard.
Loved this flamingo. Li supplied the photo while hosting the WDE at Wet Canavs.
I actually put off starting on this one out of uncertainty of what exactly to do with it...had no idea. But after I got started it was great fun and just kinda came together.
Do you put off starting a painting for some reason?
Thanks for taking a peek.

BEAUTIFUL and very majestic.
ReplyDeleteNice! Yes, sometimes I want to paint a certain scene, but put it off.. afraid I can't do it well, I guess. I find that if I get right at and paint when the thought first occurs to me, it goes so much better. Sometimes I tend to over-think :-/
ReplyDeleteThank you, Dominique! Thanks for stopping by.
ReplyDeleteHi Sunny! Thanks for your input on procrastination. I think you're absolutely right. The longer I put off starting a painting, the more painful it becomes. It's best to get right at it.
ReplyDeleteHere's a great quote: "I tamed my personal art demon – the tendency to think about painting rather than actually painting – by throwing the stuff on the blank paper and telling myself I didn't care about the end result. I believed it and was saved." (Rich Hawk)
You did a fantastic job on the flamingo. I'm from Florida and I always thought the Flamingo should be the "state bird" (it's not! why? lol)
ReplyDeleteLove the color and shadow in this --expertly done!
Love the dramatic lighting in this, Dean - very beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI've enjoyed going through your posts and have loved every one of them! This flamingo is no exception - beautiful light and that lovely painterly look you've mastered!
ReplyDeleteYour pelican is absolutely gorgeous. Very fine indeed. The light is beautifully managed and it glows.
