Reflecting On The Future

Close ups

Oil on 5x7 hardboard.

Happy New Year
, dear blogging buddies!! The title of this painting is in reference to the upcoming new year! I don't actually make resolutions but I do tend to reassess my goals and how to best achieve them. I do this only in general terms so that I can change directions without some sort of guilt hanging over me. Right now my art seems to fly off in too many directions...but then, I want to see where it all leads.
May your dreams come true in 2010!

  1. Wow... when I saw the thumbnail on my dashboard, I thought this was your photo reference. This is absolutely exquisite! What a way to close '09.
May the coming New Year continue to bring you many blessings my friend!

  2. Thank you for you wishes. Here's wishing a wonderful year to you.

  3. Dean, you're a man after my own heart when it comes to resolutions and goals. I LOVE your pear. Beautifully done! Happy New Year... -Don

  4. Dean, I am sitting here looking at your brush strokes and am quite awed. I see them going through two colors and not muddying the painting at all. How do you do that? (The closeups allow me to see the brush lines quite nicely). The little mar on the pear looks 3-dimensional. What a great job you have done!

  5. Dean, both the painting and the sentiment behind it are on target--happy new year!

  6. Thank you, Sheila- Your words are an inspiration to me. Have a great year!

  7. Thanks, Irit-Same to you!

  8. Thanks for stopping by and the well wishes, Maria! All my best to you.

  9. Hi, Don- I think it's definitely a good idea to keep your eyes wide open for the muse...inspiration...opportunity.
All my best to you and your beautiful family! Those were great portraits of your two boys and daughter!

  10. Bless you, Autumn, for those glowing words! On this one, I used something I don't normally use...a very soft blending brush. So glad you liked it!

  11. Thanks for stopping in and the nice comment, Faye!
    happy new year!

  12. Radiant. I love the bit of light on the left side of the pear. Beautiful work. All good things to you in 2010, Dean.

  13. This is wonderful, Dean - so beautifully painted! I wish you the best in 2010, my friend.

  14. Beautiful pear Dean - love the light! Happy New Year & God Bless.

  15. Dean!

I'm a sucker for pear paintings so this just caught my eye!

Oh, this is so realistic looking for such a small painting!

    Love it!

    Happy New Year to you!!
