Close ups

Oil on 7x5 hardboard.
Actually this was listed in Jan. of this year. It didn't sell-it's one of my personal favorites-so I'm listing it again on eBay.
I re posted this because I felt the need to post something. I have been out of commission for awhile.

On Wed. Dec. 9th I underwent open surgery for inguinal hernia repair. This is a fairly common type of surgery, but it is the first time I have ever gone under the knife. I even told the hospital staff to take it easy 'cause I was a virgin. I don't think that remark earned me anything more than a few strange looks.
Anyhow, it's been vicodin for pain, ice pack for swelling...all of which works to better effect when cranked all the way back in the recliner. The swelling gets outrageous after about a half hour in my studio/computer chair.

But now I'm chomping at the bit to get going again as soon as possible. Hope to be putting out new work soon. Gotta get crackin'....I have one Christmas commission, plus a portrait for DSFDF.

  1. Dean - so sorry to hear you had to have surgery. Be sure to take your time and let your body heal. I'm sure they told you not to lift anything heavier than a carton of milk. It's surprising how many things are heavier. Anyway - my prayers are with you for a speedy recovery and good health.

PS - The painting is too cute!

  7. Dean, so sorry to hear that you have been laid up as you have been. My goodness! I do know how well ice helps, even (maybe especially is a better choice?) with pain. I do not like Vicodin and will not take it, but I know it helps many. I am surprised that this painting did not sell for it is truly a beauty! Beautifully executed and that somewhat apologetic (paw up, face averted) pose makes me wonder what this guy did! LOL Hope you feel better soon.

  12. Hi Dean, thank you for being brave enough to share this with us! I've had many surgeries - thank heaven's never for anything 'serious' I've even called some of them recreational - like a c-section!

Dean, it takes several weeks to start to really recover - please be careful and take special care of yourself! A little time now will make your recovery!

Merry Christmas. I can't wait to see what you will bring us next year!
