Bright and Breezy

Close ups

Oil on 5x7 gessoed hardboard.
Here's a slight departure for me. I really do enjoy this style of painting. It's high key, loose, and free spirited. It's fun to kick your shoes off (figuratively speaking :) and play in the color!

  1. Wow, Dean, this is GREAT! I love the thick paint and the beautiful colors - kind of reminds me of Francis Livingston's work. Wonderful!

  2. Thanks,Edward,my friend! What a huge compliment! I had never heard of Francis Livingston. I googled him...and now he has another admirer! Afraid I might have a ways to go to even come near. :)

  5. Dean, you and Karin, Kathleen and others are always mentioning color and form and composition. Usually, I take it for granted. But in this piece, they all come together so well...It's like a textbook example of how to do it right!

  18. I agree with the other comments on this one Dean, it is a GEM!
The light and the painterly effects you have on such a small format are delightful, it captures the very atmosphere of the beach, one can almost smell the salt spray.
