Yellow Hibiscus
This is oil on 5x7 gessoed 1/8" hardboard. Some light accented areas were applied with a painting knife. I think the painting comes together nicely from a little distance.

OMG Dean this is beautiful! I love it. I find flowers so hard to do - I'll need to study this one for a while
ReplyDeleteawwwwwwwww! exquisite!~
ReplyDeleteThanks, Karen...Flowers were never my favorite subject to do. Though beautiful subjects, There just seemed too many details that I would become lost in. I did this one by merely painting one small area after another...patches of color.
ReplyDeleteHi, Angie...Thanks for stopping by!
ReplyDeleteNice work. Love the bold strokes. I agree with Karen, I still haven't figured out flowers. I find them difficult too. Your patches of color theory may be the answer.
ReplyDeleteSo lovely.....incredible brushstrokes. Happy Holidays. Loved your tag comments.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Bill B... Painting color patches sure helped on this one!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the kind words, Jeniffer...Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and yours!
ReplyDeletewow ....what a great fresh flower! There doesn't seem to be a thing you can't paint! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Celeste...there are still plenty of scenes/subjects that have their power to intimidate....especially before the brush is picked up.
ReplyDeleteOne of your best Dean. I really like the way this one comes together. Nice job on the yellow in shadow color.
ReplyDeleteHi, Frank...Thanks for your thoughts. This was a new experience for me on several levels...yellow in shade being one of them.
