Boston Terrier
Acrylic on 8x10 hardboard.
This painting was done for my neighbor, Jack. He asked for the painting of his departed dog, Jingles, so that he could surprise his wife with it this Christmas.
Well, Jack is a Godsend of a neighbor who has helped me immeasurably over this summer and fall with many outside tasks which I'm not up to handling. Needless to say I was overjoyed to do this for him.
After Christmas, Jack called to tell me his wife cried after unwrapping it. That is when I breath a sigh of relief and feel a painting successful. The tears of joy are the real pay that matters.

beautiful! did you use a textured support? You did a wonderful job..isn't it nice to know Jingles is immortalized? He does look to be a special friend..you captured his charm.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Celeste. It does give me a good feeling to honor a subject in a painting which will be around for many years.
ReplyDeleteThis is on hardboard. I added another layer of gesso...which supplied the brushed texture that you see. I like the effect.
Wonderful portrait of Jingles, Dean. It's easy to see why she loved it.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Edward!
