Indian Rhino

This is oil on 7x5 archival canvas panel. I first covered the surface with black gesso with a few streaks of Carribean Blue acrylic blended in. I'm pretty happy with this result mainly because I decided at the last moment to put a light vibrant background around the head area. I feel it adds spark to the composition. Hope you like it.
Thanks to Anne who hosted the WDE this week at Wet Canvas. She graciously supplied the reference photo from which this painting was done.

    1. The light area around the head makes the painting Dean. Really fresh looking strokes.
      Like that one a lot.

    3. I, too, like this very much, and also agree that the light area makes it shine, and gives the head impact and solidity.
