Spirit... WIP Second Installment
Oil on 24x36 stretched canvas.
This is an update on the painting called "Spirit". Here is the painting after the first "lay in". The entire canvas has been covered with paint. In this particular case, most of my first color mixes are pretty well how the final needs to be. I think this was made possible through doing so many small paintings for this blog the past year... I feel that my eyes are a little keener at mixing values and color. The background should be a very close match to that of the "Miejek" painting...the foliage has been re-invented so that it appears that Spirit is standing in a slightly different spot on the same shoreline. I sent this jpg to Mitch and Jeffyne, the gracious couple for whom this painting is being done. They emailed back their suggestions and I had another round of painting to do.
Stay tuned...more to come.

This is really looking great Dean, they're lucky to have you doing this. Barb
ReplyDeleteHi Dean, I have not commented in a while but I am still checking in often. I really think this is a nice painting. The new owners will be proud to hang it in their home. I like the step by step that you are doing. It is nice to see the process you go through.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the vote of confidence, Barbie! I need all the confidence I can get on a commissioned work like this...especially at the start of the painting.
ReplyDeleteHi, Frank!! Great to 'see' you (I keep an eye on your blog too...great stuff!)! I like to post a work in progress every so often...hope the readers enjoy it...it often helps to clarify my process to myself.
