Oil on 5x7 archival canvas panel.Looks as if these two gulls are trying out for American Idol. Hope they win! They're sure putting their hearts in it.
Just felt the need to cut loose with color/bravado.
Below is the prepared canvas panel. I love working on this type of surface. First, I haphazardly applied drops of white and black gesso. I brushed it enough to give it a marbled effect. Then dried it with a blow dryer. Second,using acrylic paint, I put a few small dabs of yel. ochre at the top...cad. red lt. toward the middle...and alizeron crimson at the bottom. These were loosely brushed around. This creates an exciting surface that looks ready to stand alone as a piece of art. Painting with oils on top of this is a true
pleasure.
