Fancy Ears-Caracal Cat

 Close ups

Oil on 7x5 canvas panel.

This is my contribution to this week's WDE at Wet Canvas. Maureen was the gracious hostess.

This is  a caracal. A very interesting desert cat. It has long tufts of hair at the tips of its ears.

Mostly done with a brush. Some painting knife.

C&C welcome. Thanks for looking and commenting.

Matthew 17:20    “You don’t have enough faith,” Jesus told them. “I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible."

  2. He looks business-like, no playing around with him! Hope he is not in the desert around Tucson area where I am currently rv'ing. Nice painting!

    1. Hi, Sunny....You're not likely run into him. He's prowling the Mideast countries.

  3. This is a great painted of the cat but looks a little dangerous ha. I love your harmonious colors as well.

I have not been able to with you guys on WDE lately as I have started a five day drawing course for 10-14 and having a great time.
    Have a good day!

    1. Hi, Steinunn...Yes, the caracal would be a pretty tough customer...like a lynx, but he lives in the Mideast deserts.

I have missed you at the WDE.
Hope you had a productive class of students.

    2. Thank you for noticing Dean, I have been far too busy with my young students, they have been just great, besides my energy goes only so far, one can find the age creeping on...but I should be joining you at WDE soon again.
      Best regards.

  4. I thought this looked a little closer to mountain types of cats than a domestic kitty. Beautiful job, Dean, and thank you for teaching me something new.

  5. It always a pleasure to see your work Dean. You draw and paint so well and the combination allows you to pull off something as difficult as this with great success.

  7. Hi there Dean... You've captured his personality... alertness and his "business" sense in this small gem ... and as always your colour and use of complementeries really adds puch and harmony to this work!

    No average "mouser"... this dude!

    Good Painting!
