On The Wind-Horse

Close ups

Oil on 5x7 hardboard.

This is my contribution to this week's WDE at Wet Canvas. The host, Skappy, provided the photos.

I had to paint this beautiful horse. It made me think that her spirit was running on the wind, inspiring her to try to keep up .

When I first started on this one, I was very hesitant... not knowing which direction to take it. One color suggested the next color. So I wound up with this. It was so unplanned, it's like looking at someone else's work. I kinda like it.

Thanks for looking!

This beautiful rose was painted by the very gifted artist, Liz Holm! It is her gift to me in my moleskin as part of The Flying Moleskin project.

To Liz: I absolutely love it, Liz! I have personally always found roses to be nearly impossible to paint, so this great gift from you is amazing!

I will cherish it!

  3. I more than kinda like it, Dean. Her mane is beautiful and I am reminded of that old song "Wildfire," for some reason.

Gros bisous.
