Close ups

Acrylic and colored pencil on cardboard...approx. 6x7.
This is for Sheila's moleskin. Her theme was "Paint something you love". Well, that was wide open. I thought and fought to come up with my answer. I kept coming back to God as my main love in this world. But I didn't know what to paint to represent that subject. Then, out of the blue, it came to me. God's creatures!

I took this entertaining acrobatic chickadee's picture as he hang nonchalantly upside down on a seed bell made of sunflower seeds. So well designed to survive through the challenges he will face...and so well provided for by it's Creator.
Examples such as this abound all around us. His existence is confirmed everywhere I look.

Genesis 1:20: And God said, “Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the vault of the sky.”

  1. I agree, chickadees are a perfect example of how
God cares for us and of His talent to create.

  2. Eeeee!!! I'm clapping my hands in delight! Thank you Dean! When I saw the thumbnail on my blog dashboard, I thought, "what a lovely painting". I was going to post that this painting inspires me to try and paint a bird but now I'm just overcome with gratitude for this beautiful painting!!!!!!! hugs!!

  3. such a great piece...... I love your animals they are always so well done and this one is so cool eating upside down.... like us sometimes doing thing upsidedown..... lol

  4. I love your bird painting, Dean! Lucky Sheila!!

This one reminds me to go out and buy a seed ball for my poor birds. The poor things are freezing their little feet while trying to eat seeds from my snow covered feeder.

  5. I do like what you choose for your "love" beautifully painted too. :)

  6. And the scripture verse that instantly springs to mind has to do with if God feeds the birds and takes care of them, how much more will he take care of us? (Super paraphrased, but you know what I mean...) Beautiful little chickadee, Dean.

  7. Your post is so beautifully written and you're right..his existence is everywhere we look...this beautiful bird you painted says it all.

  8. Love the composition, Dean. Well done.
