Oil on 5x7 hardboard.
This is my submission to the WDE at Wet Canvas. Beth was hostess this week. Thanks, Beth!
Momma will instruct these young'uns in all they will need for survival and carrying on the species. You can bet that she will do all within her power to keep them safe. No baby sitters needed . Very inspiring and right with God's plan.
The cubs are quick learners...Judging from some stories in the news, many humans would be wise to take parenting instructions from her as well.
I really had a great time when it came to applying the thick impasto (the frosting) at the finish.
Thanks for looking!

Your wildlife paintings are always just so stunningly beautiful Dean. This one is a favorite; the light is phenomenal in it as well. Perfect scripture verse for this delightful post!
ReplyDeleteVery dramatic Dean, you've really captured the power and majesty of these great animals. I love your intense background.
ReplyDeleteI love the "essay" that you've included with this great painting! Yes, I agree 100%. "no babysitters required" haha..made me think of how I was raised. I didn't have a babysitter. My Mother just yelled at me. THAT was my babysitter. lol. The colors in this painting are so rich! Bravo!
ReplyDeleteJust love all of your bear paintings. You have portrayed God's creatures beautifully.
ReplyDeleteThanks, so much, Liz! I really enjoy using thick paint when possible.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Don...much appreciated!
ReplyDeleteHi Pam and Claire...Glad you don't feel that I overdid it on the brightness.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Skizo...and thanks for stopping by.
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot, Sherry...that scripture is one of my favorites.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Vern, my friend! Glad you like it.
ReplyDeleteHi Celeste. We belong to the same "club". Never had a babysitter either. Learned to love being hollered at by my Mother. Ah...those were the days... :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Lokelani!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work, Dean! The body on the middle small bear is so great...I can just see him toddling along with his Mother and taking in the world. That light, rough background works so wonderfully with the dark bears.
ReplyDeleteGreat job, My friend. Love the warm color combination.
ReplyDeleteHi Dean
ReplyDeleteYour paintings are indeed my favourite that I visit.
Oh how I wish I could paint in oils like you.
Regards
Thank you, Edward...always a pleasure to see you. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Gwen, for your kind words! I'm glad you think the background works with the bears. I wrestled myself awhile to come up with that.
ReplyDeleteGosh, Trevor...Thanks for the huge compliment! It means a lot coming from you.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet painting Dean, brought a smile to my face.
ReplyDeleteLOve your paintings and scriptures

ReplyDeleteUnusual light and composition for bears, Dean!
ReplyDeleteBTW, sorry for getting back so late to your comment on ART NOTES (Ir has bee kinda crazy here the last few weeks)
A lovely rhythm in this composition. The negative spaces in yellow light works extremely well, Dean!
ReplyDeleteI love the "story" here. Great texture and color - you've done it again - great painting.
ReplyDeleteYou're impasto work takes the cake, Dean! (couldn't resist :-D)
