Oil on 7x5 hardboard.
Some of you may recall this is one I posted on Sept. 19th. It has been reworked. The reaction to it was less than stellar on eBay. I decided the original was a bit on the drab/dark side for a sunny beach scene ( even though I did like the deep color). So I went back in and added warmth to the sky and generally reworked and brightened everything a bit.
The original is here.
Right now the touch up is so fresh in my mind, I don't know if I've helped or hurt it.

Let us love, not in word or speech, but in truth and action.
I think the original was a little more complex but this has an overall brighter feeling to it. I think it will do well now especially since we'll be wanting to get back to the beach before real fall weather sets in.
ReplyDeleteDean, I like them both, but I think ebay sales had some big dips the last few weeks of August and the start of Sept. I'm hoping it picks back up in a few weeks, when I get all my unsold art back from the shows they are in at the moment.
ReplyDeleteThis is very beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI like the extra light you added Dean...the clouds seem brighter...but it was hard to see it all with the switching back and forth. You did NOT hurt it that is for sure!! NICE!!
ReplyDeleteI loved both of them. They are bright and colorful. I always wait to see your work.
ReplyDeletePencil Sketch: Rajasthani Man playing flute
This is a lovely piece..I think 'brighter' is always better!
ReplyDeleteDidn't notice the difference until I looked at them a bit more side-by-side. I do think you've improved it, Dean. When I looked at the first, it looked as though some of the trees had smeared a bit (which I didn't notice originally, but thought that the skies were a bit cloudy - something I love!)... So this is a definite improvement.
ReplyDeleteI've missed a couple of your posts but am back! This is really lovely, but the original was pretty good as well! And I absolutely love your cow. She's magnificent.
ReplyDeleteHi Dean
ReplyDeleteI looked at both of them and my favorite is the second one. I like the way your trees look in this one. I also feel the happiness you get when it is a sunny day on the beach.
Both are very good Dean.
ReplyDeleteIf I were to be honest, I feel the first to be more immediate which I relate to your style.
Kind Regards
