Happy 233rd Birthday!

Close ups

Acrylic on hardboard. I intentionally left this in this stage of development. I could have smoothed, blended, etc.-But this was at the right place to convey the intense emotion I feel about our great nation on this 2009 Independence Day.

I have always held patriotism for the United States of America strongly in my heart-but for the first time in my adult life I am afraid for my country because it feels like hope is being dashed by all these huge rapid fire changes." This is only my honest opinion, so if I rile anyone , I apologize.

I am also of the opinion that there is a much higher power than Washington,DC. He is watching over us all.
Anyhow, happy birthday, America! God bless the USA!

  1. *sigh* I think the ultimate response an artist wants is deep emotion upon viewing his/her work. You must feel so satisfied when you get that reaction Deano. Happy Fourth to you and yours and yes, God Bless America!

  5. This brought tears to my eyes, Dean. The emotion in this piece is so strong. Your wise choice to leave it in a raw stage really adds to the the raw feeling. What a wonderful tribute to Freedom.

  6. This is wonderful and powerful Dean...Having just spent the last 2 days IN Washington, D.C., I have to agree with you - all I saw were people there like you and me. A higher power HAS to be in charge.
