"And that's the way it was..."
Graphite on Canson Bristol Vellum. Around 8.5x6 inches.
Yesterday we lost an American icon, Walter Cronkite. He reported true unbiased news...without spin or injected opinion. Pure news. News not infected by partisan slant. One would be very hard pressed to find his type of reporting in the majority of today's so called "news".

Great sketch! You've captured him perfectly!
ReplyDeleteWell said, Dean. This is a lovely drawing, beautiful line quality, with expressive strokes.
ReplyDeletebeautiful
ReplyDeleteI never saw him but had heard of him. He certainly had strength of character and kindness in his face. What a fantastic drawing Dean.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Michelle. I just returned from your blog...great painting!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Angela. I have to constantly remind myself in drawing (as in painting) not to tighten up. Glad you like it!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Celeste. I appreciate you stopping in!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your kind words Liz.
ReplyDeletegreat portrait, nice tribute--and I agree he was a different type that can't be compared to the spin pretty faces of today. I think you are inspiring me to draw him.
ReplyDeleteWONDERFUL drawing, Dean. You really captured his likeness and his spirit.
ReplyDeleteWonderful tribute, Dean. When you compare the journalism of Walter Cronkite with the pablum we get on today's news there's no comparison. He was one of the last of a dying breed.
ReplyDeleteWow.. what a masterful sketch Dean. Cronkite would be flattered. It's a great loss but what a legacy he left and such big shoes to fill.
ReplyDeleteGreat sketch, Dean. Sad, to say..no journalist/anchor today could begin to measure up to Walter Cronkite...a rare person of high integrity has passed on.
ReplyDeleteAn exceptional drawing of an exceptional man.
ReplyDeletePerfect!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat drawing of a great journalist - the last of the great ones for sure. Today the "journalist" seem like they are on the politicians payrolls.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely way to honor his passing!
ReplyDeleteVery sensitive drawing with a lot of feeling of a great journalist. Nicely done Dean!
ReplyDeleteYou captured his personality so well, Dean.
