The Better To Hear You With

Close ups.

Acrylic on 7x5 hardboard.
The image of this fine looking donkey was supplied by Jean for the WDE at Wet Canvas.

This is the first time I have ever used Golden Open Acrylics and I really like 'em! The only problem I have is using them like acrylics instead of oils. That is I still use them too thinly as I have regular acrylics of the past. I need to use them more like oils to achieve the textures and brushwork that I want.

  17. He's a cutie Dean, I light the light on his muzzle. Think that is the right term for a donkeys nose, lol

  20. This is wonderful! I love the loose brushwork and the hints of red coming through on the body. I am wondering about trying Golden open acrylics myself. I haven't used oils since high school so I wonder if using the open acrylics will give me the creamy consistency I remember with oils. How long did this take to dry?

  21. A great result! I've heard the open acrylics are tough to work with. Guess it just takes some experimentation. Then again, I think you could create magic in any medium, Dean.
