Malamute-Animal Art

Oil on 5x7 archival canvas panel. I enjoyed doing this one today. The image was supplied by Joel for the Weekend Drawing Event at Wet Canvas. I used the painting knife in a few spots just to add variety and surface interest.

  1. This is the perfect subject for you to paint, I bet you were pleased with his choice. I see your red toned canvas peeking through, I like it. Nice painting as always Dean. Barb

  2. Well, there is another fine example of the warm underpainting helping to balance the dominant cool colors.
Nicely done Dean. Looks like one of our dogs.

  3. Yes, Barb, I was pleased with this subject :). Glad you like the reds peeking in here and there...I enjoy that effect.

  4. Frank....I really have fun painting on top of a red toned canvas. Wish I could lay down the brush strokes on top as freely as you appear to.

  5. Wow, she is so pretty. The whole scene looks "so cold"...burr..

    i like this a lot.

  6. Sandy, thank you...It IS cold looking isn't it?? I'm so glad the dog is a malamute instead of a Chihuahua!!!!
