Got Milk?-Cow Portrait

This is a touch up of the cow. A talented friend at the WDE commented " I would define the bottom a bit. It's now a sandwich with bottom and upper part red and the interesting part in the middle. By letting the yellow (or black)partly enter the bottom part it makes it less symetrical. Just a thought"

I saw exactly what she meant (ah, the value of fresh eyes)! So I added more yellows in the bottom left...a bit more hide color down the right side....plus a hint of color down the front of her neck. I think it all helped to make the painting seem more complete.
Thanks for those suggestions, Connie!

My redo is on top...the original is immediately below.

Oil on 7x5 canvas panel.

This is my contribution to this week's WDE at Wet Canvas. Scatty was the gracious host this week who provided a bunch of colorful photos!

I just couldn't resist painting this face! Enjoyed the lighting and inventing a background.
I tried to lay the paint on a bit extra thick.

C&C welcome. Thanks for looking and commenting! Those comments mean a lot!

  4. Dean, as always a great job. I also want to applaud you for being so consistent about posting to your blog and showing us your work. I have a bit of trouble with that.
