Guardian-Rooster

 Close ups

Oil on 7x5 canvas panel.

This is my contribution to this week's WDE at Wet Canvas. Lisilk was the super host this week who provided a bunch of great photos!

I really like painting roosters. Colorful guys with a ton of attitude.

Plenty of knife work on this one. But the brush was used in the tight spots. I attempted to keep this one loose and painterly. Hope I succeeded.

C&C welcome. Thanks for looking and commenting!

  3. What a gorgeous and handsome rooster, Dean!! I love the sheen on his dark feathers too. And by the way, my Jessie loves the painting of the Boxer. He looks just like her Harley and she has the portrait next to a photo of him.

  6. The balance of bright color throughout works so well here and love the thick paint to enhance the feathers.
