Struttin' His Stuff-Rooster

 Close ups

Oil on 7x5 canvas panel.

This is my contribution to this week's WDE at Wet Canvas. Maureen did a great job of hosting this week and provided a bunch of terrific photos! She always does.

I came across this quote by John Singer Sargent: "No small dabs of colour - you want plenty of paint to paint with."
I have been guilty of being stingy with paint...so this time my mounds of color were a little more generous. But most of the areas around the bird were done with thin paint for contrast.

C&C welcome. Thanks for looking and commenting!

James 4:14   "Yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes."

  4. You are wonderful with color and movement. Nothing is ever stiff - beautiful fluid strokes and color vibrations make for an exciting surface. Always a pleasure to visit, Dean, and see the variety of subject matter - done so well.
