Bustin' Loose

Close ups

Acrylic on 5x7 hardboard.

Bustin' loose is a rodeo term that refers to the roper...It can also refer to how I felt about doing this painting.

For a change, I didn't gesso the support as I normally do, so the surface was pretty smooth. I started it with colorful random washes...watching how they swirled and puddled on the fairly slick surface. I applied thicker acrylics in some select areas.
I also used a black Faber-Castell Pitt artist pen.
This technique was very freeing and I enjoyed it!

I have never painted on hardboard, where do you buy it?
