Then comes the challenging and fun part. I attempt to mix each light spot of color to match the warmth or coolness plus the value which I observe in the reference...each stroke may vary from previous strokes. Once I match the color I'm after, I apply it with a single stroke...trying not to mess with it any further. Then go onto the next color match and stroke.
This process maintains a freshness and immediacy. Each small section of the painting will have the appeal of an abstract causing the eye to linger and find many small surprises.
