Angelic-Little Girl Portrait

 Close ups

Oil on 5x7 canvas panel.

This is my contribution to this week's WDE at Wet Canvas. Kay was the gracious host this week and provided a bunch of great photos! The little girl is Lillian. Kay's SIL's granddaughter.

I'm glad I was able to put my brakes on and stop early in this piece. I managed to retain the sketchiness I like so well. After the painting was done, I even went back into it with a brush to accentuate the sketchiness. The background is the acrylic that tones the panel.

C&C Welcome. Thanks for taking a peek and commenting!

James 1:13       Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God,” for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no one.

  1. I love how you caught the innocence of this little girl, Dean! She's adorable...reminds me of my granddaughter when she was little....you painted her loosely and love the beautiful shadows in her face!!

  2. This is gorgeous, Dean. I love your color choice for the background, I love her little messy wing of hair, and her love for her "babies" shows on her face. An angel indeed!

  5. Good morning Dean!... Once again your painting surpasses just capturing the visual senses. This wee gem freezes that magical stage of the innocence and contentment of childhood... and reaches beyond to encapsulate those first glimpses of motherhood and family pride! Bravo!

    Good Painting!
    Warmest regards,
    Bruce
