This is for the weekly WDE at Wet Canvas. Dewi was the host and this portrait is from a photo of her beautiful friend, Ella.
I had to really fight my natural inclination to paint one of the animals this week.
I elected to go for what is for me a difficult subject...the human animal. In this case, the lovely Ella.
I tried to stay relatively loose and push the color. Maybe I wasn't entirely successful in that goal.

The work is as lovely as the model herself.. the gaze has a certain kind of detachment from the surroundings..she reminded me of my long last friend Sabina.
