Close ups
Oil on 7x5 gessoed hardboard.
This is painted from an image supplied by Dominic for the WDE at Wet Canvas.
I just wanted to see if I could pull off the texture of the wool. I may not have completely succeeded, but then, this whole painting thing is a learning experience.

Well, I like it :-)
ReplyDeleteI like your painting, too, Dean. Their facial expressions are perfect, and, if my memory serves, their wool gets like that right before they are sheared.
ReplyDeleteDean, The texture is great! That is what drew me in immediately...hmmm, could be because it looks like wool!!
ReplyDeleteMr. Dean, That is superb piece of art...I like your way of presentation...Its Zoom...zoom and more zoom...Lovely Lamb...:)
ReplyDeleteThey may not be the smartest animals, but they are cute! Love the woolliness!
ReplyDeleteIt works! Great job, you pulled it off.
ReplyDeleteDean - even before I read your text, I was thinking that I really liked the way you portrayed the texture of the wool...great job!
ReplyDeleteWool, by golly, Dean....not baaahd. In fact, very good. Shorn uff good painting. And...if I don't learn a little something from each painting I do, then I must have been sleeping in class.

ReplyDeleteThank you, Mi! I really appreciate that!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Nancy...That's what I was thinking about the wool too. Interesting spirely strands.

The texture of the wool is great! And, I love all the color values, as well.
ReplyDeleteI can feel the weight and texture of their wool perfectly...well done! And the Bible verse puts it in perspective. Great choice!

ReplyDeleteI so totally love the sheep - and having raised them for many years, I can tell you that you have captured the wool beautifully - as well as their wonderful open expressions.
ReplyDeleteLove everything about this...the texture, the little lambs ears pointing back, the faces, the abundant use of color in that thick layered wool. VERY nice work!
