Basset Hound

Oil on 7x5 archival canvas panel.
What a sad looking fellow. But, who knows...the tail, just out of sight may be wagging in delirious joy!

Sliced Lemon

Oil on 5x7 archival canvas panel.
Here is a great little still life that has been sitting around my studio too long. So I figured it was time to put it on eBay. It was done in May '07. I just now made a few minor but important changes.

June Cow Portrait

Oil on 5x7 archival canvas panel.
I had such a good time painting the cow in the May 21st post( scroll on down this page), I had to try to relive the experience! So here's another one done in the same manner.

Trout Fisherman

Oil on 5x7 archival canvas panel.
This was painted from a from a jpg image on the monitor screen. I used a plein air approach throughout. Paint fast as though the light were going to change...get the darks in first in order to establish the shadow pattern...get the general colors in as accurately as possible the first time....keep it simple, don't get caught up in detail...lastly, add the most detail and chroma around the center of interest.

Jack Russell Terrier

Oil on 7x5 archival canvas panel.
I love to paint the many colors in "white". I like fresh looking, thick, strokes of oil color. I like plenty of contrast of darks versus lights. I like to paint animals. All my favorites have come together here in this piece. I had fun doing it. Hope y'all enjoy!

Acrylic Rose

Acrylic on 5x7 archival canvas panel.
Still searching the different avenues of expressing an image in paint. This is my attempt at impact. It's a rose from my backyard. The surrounding dark makes the flower leap out and causes the background to dissolve into leaf like shapes. This invites the viewer to hang around for closer inspection....hopefully.

Vanda Orchid

Oil on 5x7 archival canvas panel.
I attempted to kick up the contrast and color interest for drama and excitement...on the verge of overdoing it maybe. I painted over black gesso. Dewi provided the photo of this subject on the WDE at Wet Canvas.

Swan

Oil on 7x5 archival canvas panel.
This is a return to my original style . I love to play complementaries against each other...to push the color...and create an interesting surface texture via paint texture. And, of course, I just enjoy doing the graceful lines of swans . Hope y'all enjoy it.

Prince Edward Island

Oil on 7x5 archival canvas panel.
Thought I'd attempt a landscape for a change of pace. I changed many of the colors from the reference just to add my own feel (mood ?)to it. I enjoyed fooling with the texture. Thanks for looking.
Prince Edward Island is Canada's smallest and greenest province. Cradled on the waves of the Gulf of St. Lawrence, the Island is known for the vivid colours of its gently rolling landscape.
This was painted from a reference photo graciously supplied by Nancy for the WDE at Wet Canvas.
